The prodigious winger is born to Nigerian parents who moved to London in search of a better life for their children. The pacy winger spent his early life in London with his older siblings and attended Royal Rusell School where he graduated from.
Tyrique George origin is from Nigeria. Growing up in a middle class family, his passion for football was influenced by his father and under his guidance and support from his mother he was able to join Chelsea academy after going through the club’s development centre programme.
Club career
George joined the Chelsea academy in 2014 as an under-8 and gradually rose through the club system and at age of 11 to 14, he trained with Unique FA, a London based football academy which offers training programmes designed to further develop their individual talent.
He became a regular squad player of Chelsea U18 in the 2022-23 season making 28 appearances across all competitions. George announced himself on a bigger stage on April 2023 when he scored a 35 yard strike in an under-18 Premier League match against Crystal Palace which was shortlisted for Chelsea’s goal of the month award for April.
In the 2023-24 season, George was part of the U18s and U21s scoring eye catching goals as Chelsea won the U18 Premier League title where he netted eight times and 12 for the U18s. On 17 June 2024 he signed a long-term contract until June 2027 with an option to add one more year. Towards the end of the season, he made the bench on three occasions for Chelsea senior team and was part of the squad that travelled for pre-season tour in USA.
George made his senior debut on 29 August 2024 coming on as a substitute in a 1-2 defeat against Servette in the UEFA Conference League play off round.
International Career
George first international duty was when he represented England at Under-16 level and was part of Val de Marne wining squad. He has further represented the U-17 and U-18s. After the start of the 2024-25 season he made his debut for the England U-19 on 7 September 2024 against Croatia scoring in the 1-1 draw.
