Premier League records that are incredibly difficult to break.

Since the inaugural of the Premier League in 1992-93 season we have witnessed incredible and bizarre moments throughout its history. The English top flight has cemented itself as one of the best domestic leagues in the world and has held the best players and managers. From the Manchester United dominance, the Invincible Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, we have all witnessed this eras.

Historical records can be made in other ways other than lifting the Premier League trophy. Here we take a look at the top Premier League records that are difficult to break.

Most consecutive games unbeaten- Arsenal 49

In the entire Premier League only Arsenal have managed this feat. Arsenal went 49 consecutive premier league games unbeaten from May 2003 to October 2004 under Arsene Wenger. In these 49 league games included the 38 games that Arsenal went the entire 2003-04 season unbeaten where the club won 26 and drew 12 league games to end the season with a golden Premier League trophy and the title ‘The Invincibles’.

Longest Home unbeaten run- Chelsea 86 games.

After the take over of Chelsea Football Club by Roman Abramovich the club took an upward trajectory and started witnessing its success and establishing its roots as one of the big clubs in England. Under Jose Mourinho who guided the club into two successive league trophies 2004-05 and 2005-06 campaigns, he played a part in this run which lasted from 20 March 2004 to 5 October 2008. Stamford Bridge had became a real fortress. There was an aura of opponents feeling they had lost the match even before it started.

Fastest Goal- Shane Long 7.69 sec

This Premier League record seems impossible to break. Scoring a goal quicker than seven seconds sounds outrageous but the Irish man managed to score against Watford in 23 April 2019 with Southampton. Interestingly it’s not Southampton who had the kickoff by Shane managed to put pressure and Watford lost the ball in which he raced and looped the ball past the goalkeeper.

Fastest hattrick- Sadio Mane 2 min 56 sec

Premier league has had one of the best goal poachers but this Premier League record of one scoring a hattrick in less than three minutes nobody will come close. The ex-Liverpool star managed this feat on 16 May 2015 against Aston Villa when playing for Southampton.

Fastest goal scored by a substitute- Bendtner 6 sec

Niklas Bendtner an Arsenal player by then immediately found the back of the net after just coming on against London rivals Tottenham after a ball from a corner. Despite being a hero to this Premier League record his career at Arsenal didn’t go as expected as he failed to break into the first team roles ahead of the likes of Van Persie and Adebayor.

17 away games lost in a season- Burnley 2009-10

This is one of the Premier League record set in a bad way. In the 2009-10 season, Burnley had their worst ever Premier League season as they managed to win on one game against Hull City, drawing against Manchester City and losing 17 Premier league games. They were relegated after finishing the league at position 18 with just 30 points.

One win in a season- Derby County 2007-08

This is another record set in a negative way other than what fans could have imagined. In 2007-08 season Derby County managed to win just one game in the entire Premier League season and drawing eight times. They finished the league at the bottom of the table with just 11 points.

They also recorded the fewest points won in an entire Premier League season.

Most Premier League defeats in a row- Sunderland 20 games

Sunderland had an awful run from 2003 to 2005 when they lost 20 consecutive Premier League games. The first 15 games they lost at the second half 2003-04 season and extended that run to the first five opening league games of 2004-05 season.

Fewest goals conceded in an entire season- Chelsea 15 goals

In Jose Mourinho first campaign at Chelsea in the 2004-05 season, the club recorded the best ever defence in the Premier League era with Petr Cech in goal and Terry, Gallas, Carvalho and Fereira in defence the club could do anything to prevent the opposition from scoring. The club conceded 15 goals only and it’s not gonna be broken soon.

Smallest title winning margin- Manchester City 2011-12

The last matchday of the 2011-12 season was dramatic as two clubs Manchester United and Manchester City were tieing on points and City had a better goal difference. City were one goal down against QPR and their rivals thought they had beaten their rivals to lift the Premier League but Manchester City pulled a comeback to win the league by goal difference which happened for the first time in the league history. Zero points margin and 8 goal difference.

Most consecutive games played by a player – Brad Friedel 310

Former Tottenham Hotspurs and US international goalkeeper Brad Friedel holds this crazy Premier League record as he managed to play 310 consecutive league games from 2004 to 2012. During this incredible run he featured for Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspurs.

Fewest games to score three Premier League hattricks – Halaand 8 games

The previous Premier League record for the player to score three hattricks was held by Michael Owen which he did it in 48 matches. But the arrival of Erling Halaand in the 2022-23 season saw the record being broken as he couldn’t just stop scoring. He managed to score three league hattricks. His first one was against Crystal Palace then Nottingham Forest and finally against Manchester United.

20 goals and 20 assists in a single season- Thiery Henry

In the top five European leagues only Lionel Messi has managed to keep this record. In the Premier League it’s something impossible to manage but in the 2002-03 season campaign Thiery Henry managed to score 20 Premier League goals and added 20 assist on the same campaign.

Most point without winning a Premier League trophy- Liverpool 97 points

The 2018-19 season witnessed the peak of the Liverpool and Manchester City rivalry as the club went on toe to toe until the last league match only for Liverpool to miss the title with just one point as Manchester City won the league with 98 points Liverpool coming second with 97 points. This Premier League record remains a impossible.

Most points in a Premier League season- Manchester City 100 points.

Since the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City the Premier League has witnessed his dominance as the club set the standard of the highest points ever accumulated in a single campaign. Manchester City whooped 100 points in the 2017-18 season after winning 32 out of 38 games. Liverpool came close to this 100 point mark but ended with 99 points.

The club has also set a league record for winning four consecutive Premier League trophies from 2020-21 to 2023-24 season.
